Iron is one of the most common metals found on earth and as such, is naturally found in water. Iron does not present a danger to your health but can be unpleasant in taste and colour. Iron can add a rust colour to your water and stain linen, bathroom facilities, and even your food, while also adding a metallic taste. Iron in your water can also be the cause of corrosion in drain sewers. Removing iron from your water can easily be done with one of our iron filters as listed below.
2510 SXT AIO Iron Filter
The air charge iron filter, as a single tank system, is an efficient and cost-effective system for the removal of iron and sulphur.
This type of iron filter maintains an “air pocket” in the top of the tank while the system is in service. As the water passes thru the air pocket, iron and sulphur are oxidized. Additionally, dissolved oxygen is added to the water. The iron filter media bed then removes the iron and sulphur from the water.
Air charge iron filters can generally remove up to 8 ppm hydrogen sulfide and up to 7 ppm iron. A backwash removes accumulated iron and replenishes the filter media bed. The regeneration process also adds a fresh air pocket to the system.
These iron filter systems come equipped with a 2510 SXT air injection control head that automatically backwashes the system to clean the media and flush everything down the drain. By utilizing a patented piston in the control valve, the iron filter is able to put the whole oxidation process inside one tank, keeping maintenance costs and downtime to a minimum.
The Valumax™ Autotrol Performa 268 FA is a valve for a greensand iron filter system. This valve features a 220i clock timer with a 20-minute backwash for manganese greensand filters using potassium permanganate to regenerate. This acts as an oxidizer to remove the iron and small amounts of sulphur. Designed to be used with a potperm feeder, this is a 5-cycle valve and conventional iron filter.
